Not everyone is sold by the idea of transforming their homes and offices into energy saving locations. They need more than just the promise clearer conscience when it comes to making major changes to improve their environmental impact. That’s why many cities and states are offering incentives for those who switch to resources like alpine solar power.

New Jersey solar power is rumored to have some of the best financial incentives in the United States. The Garden State is one of the most expensive states in the country when it comes to electricity with the average electric bill costing almost $230 per month. Many residents who have switched to solar arrays have found their electric bill costing almost half of that.

Another solar incentive is the Federal Solar Tax Credit. This tax credit allows you to claim up to 30% of the cost of your solar energy system. However, this credit only applies to those who owe in taxes. You also must own the solar panels otherwise the solar power rebate will go to the company from whom you are leasing the solar panels from. This may still work in your benefit as many companies may apply that rebate to your contract or reduce and even eliminate installation fees.

Solar Renewable Energy Credits or SRECS are also a great incentive for solar power rebate. SRECS are credits that you earn for producing renewable energy.  1 SREC is earned for every 1,000 kWh of solar energy that a house produces. The monetary value of one credit depends on the supply and demand of the time, though currently the estimated value is around $700. As with anything there are some stipulations when it comes to Solar Renewable Energy Credits. The home must first be certified by state regulatory agencies before it can start earning credits. If your house is certified it can potentially earn several thousand dollars before its eligibility runs out. New solar energy systems can earn SRECS for up to 15 years.

There are many alpine solar incentives and solar power rebates to appeal to the individuals and business owners. Though earning money seems to be the biggest appeal, one should not forget that not only are you saving on energy bills, switching to solar panels also allows people and business to reduce their environmental impact.  By using a renewable resource you are helping the environment that should be the biggest incentive of all.
